The Ohio Department of Transportation hired Mosser Construction to replace the existing bridge with a structure that would meet today’s needs for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, while maintaining the character and charm of the original bridge. Mosser was contracted to build a four-lane bridge alongside the original bridge and once open, demolish the original structure.
As a result and testament to partnering, a schedule was developed that not only met the concerns of maintaining the quality of the Maumee River, but also allowed the public to benefit by completing the project an entire year early.
- Bridge is 890’ foot long and 75’ wide
- Four-lane bridge was built within close proximity to the existing traffic-laden old bridge
- The project required close coordination with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the United States Army Corps of Engineers, and Mosser Construction to ensure that construction and demolition activities did not negatively impact the water quality of the river or its natural flow patterns.
