The City of Fremont expanded its existing Water Treatment Plant to meet the new Environmental Protection Agency Clean Water Act requirements and to supply water to the Calpine Energy Plant.   Water capacity at the plant increased from 10.5 million gallons a day to 14 million gallons a day.
The project included:

  • New clearwell No.3
  • New filters and modification of existing filters
  • New treatment basin No. 4
  • New bulk chemical area building
  • New sludge dewatering building
  • Modifications to the existing sludge lagoons
