The Mosser Group is looking for the right person to become our next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The CFO will support The Mosser Group as a whole and function as a key advisor for the Leadership Team and Board of Directors. They will help to manage the business and execute the company’s strategic plans. This role calls for a hands-on leader who can oversee all elements of finance while supporting the company with critical business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in similar situations.

Professional Experience:

  • Accounting and financial procedures and practices and their application to the construction industry.

  • Serve on the Leadership Team and wholly support Leadership Team initiatives and directives.  Assist Leadership Team members in achieving their tactical goals to drive The Mosser Group’s strategic direction.
  • Manage the key strategic and financial issues to ensure The Mosser Group remains financially viable and well-positioned.
  • Supervise the production and timing of management reporting, including detailed financial statements, ratio analyses, and income/expense analyses.
  • Monitor and analyze financial and operational information to identify positive/negative trends and measure departmental efficiency.
  • Review periodic reports, notably the monthly work-in-progress, backlog, and projection reports to monitor the financial performance of projects and achieve annual revenue and net income goals.
  • Provide short and long-term financial business planning, including preparation of monthly projections and annual budgets.
  • Manage the investment security portfolio within the guidelines established by management.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles by staying abreast of and implementing the latest accounting pronouncements.
  • Oversee the treasury function for all companies.  Administer bank relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions. Negotiate contracts and terms with banking organizations to obtain the maximum value from the Mosser Group’s loan and deposit accounts.  Determine the best course of action when financing needs arise.
  • Monitor the timely collection of customer invoices, payments to subcontractors/suppliers and employees, and the remittance of tax obligations to Federal, state, and local taxing authorities including payroll, sales/use, commercial activity taxes, etc.
  • Oversee The Mosser Group’s investment properties and manage the partnerships related to ownership.  Prepare financial analysis for real estate investments (e.g., pre-purchase, lease, funding, etc.).
  • Assist in administration of the Employee Stock Ownership and Employee Savings Plans, including the calculation and distribution of benefit payments, preparation of the annual stock valuation, adoption of plan amendments, and review of annual reporting and employee statements.
  • Coordinate the company’s Board of Directors meetings and the annual Shareholder’s meeting.  Assist in drafting of agendas, various analyses, and preparation of meeting minutes.
  • Manage the annual financial and benefit plan audit processes.  Assemble documents and prepare various schedules as needed or required.  Coordinate the planning and closing meetings and act upon the auditor’s findings and recommendations.
  • Engage and manage legal counsel relationships related to the administration of employee benefit plans, real estate transactions, bond claims, liens, and general legal as the needs arise.
  • Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective problem-solver; be viewed as approachable and a mentor to all employees on financial issues.
  • Stay abreast of market trends impacting the construction industry and their effect on the company’s economic situation (e.g., interest rates, construction material prices, labor costs, etc.).
  • Review operating policies, procedures, and goals for each area of responsibility to ensure they support organizational objectives.
  • Ensure the continuity of service and finance/accounting department support for the Mosser Group.
  • Implement other duties, activities, and responsibilities that are considered reasonable in terms of the scope and spirit of this position’s description.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, or a similarly related field of study
  • Five to ten years of experience in accounting, finance, ESOP administration, and supervision
  • Five years of construction-related accounting experience preferred
  • CPA preferred
