The state owns and maintains 117 regulated dams statewide and of those 117, 56 are designated as Class I dams, having been determined by the state to have high-risk hazard potential. The lower dam at Mount Gilead State Park had been identified as a Class I dam.
The project entailed completing installing basin slabs, upstream wing walls and structural anchors, work on the walls, stems, embankment placement and concrete polishing.
