After much excitement and anticipation, the newly constructed Ronald McDonald House in Toledo, Ohio was unveiled to VIPs and donors at a private ribbon-cutting celebration on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. The event was held on the 33rd birthday of the original Ronald McDonald House in Toledo which first opened its doors on December 9, 1982. A community grand opening was held the following Sunday, December 13, 2015.
Children with critical and long-term illnesses need to be surrounded by family to have the best chance at healing. It was with this in mind that the Ronald McDonald House was established in 1974 creating places that feel like home for families who already have enough on their mind in dealing with and supporting their child through their illness. The charity currently has programs in more than 60 countries and regions across the globe.
The new 38,000 square foot house in Toledo, Ohio gives families a home away from home with 22 hotel-like bedrooms, full kitchen and family-friendly dining area, fitness area, playroom, laundry facility, and outdoor playground among many other state-of-the-art amenities.
