The project consisted of a influent flow chamber, 78” concrete pressure pipe, removal of existing grit tanks and installation of a grit facility. There were many phases in the project. Due to phasing, there were multiple shutdowns due to the various influent flow piping to the new flow chamber and between the existing structures, including building over one half of the new grit facility, removing the existing facility, then building the second half of the new grit facility. The project also included heavy demolition, site air and plant water connections, and a large area of new concrete and asphalt paving.
The project came in under budget and was successful. The phasing of work went well, the self-performed sitework and concrete work and equipment installation was efficient and under budget.
